Want white, clean, healthy teeth? It’s easy. Just brush correctly.

We brush our teeth everyday. But if we want white, clean, and healthy teeth, we should brush at least twice a day, in the morning and before bed. By doing so, we are maintaining good oral health by not allowing various types of germs, especially bacteria and microorganisms to grow inside our mouths. Bacteria and microorganisms are the main factors that lead to cavities and unpleasant breath. In order to get rid of these factors, we must know how to brush our teeth “correctly”. But before we get into the practices of teeth cleaning, let’s first talk about how to choose the right toothbrush.

How to choose the right toothbrush

Choosing the right toothbrush will significantly help us clean our teeth properly. The result? Shiny, healthy teeth and strong gums. Not to mention reducing the chances of bad breath. Here are the key elements in choosing the right toothbrush:
    •    Size. You need to choose a toothbrush that is big or small enough, depending on your age. Children, for instance, require smaller brushes with colorful, attractive appearances in order to make sure the children have fun experiences and can use their imaginations while brushing their teeth, making the act of brushing attractive. Adults should also choose toothbrushes according to their age. This will help increase the effectiveness of cleaning and also make sure the brush is able to reach all parts of the mouth.
    •    Bristles. A good toothbrush should not have bristles which are too hard because harsh bristles may damage gums, creating lesions on the gums. Also, harsh bristles may also gradually cause teeth corrosion, especially those of us who put in a bit of muscle while brushing. A common misunderstanding is that the harder we brush, the cleaner our teeth will be. This is not true. Brushing too hard will cause our gums to recede and this will, in turn, cause hypersensitivity. However, if we choose a toothbrush that has softer bristles, the brush will be able to access smaller crevices between our teeth, removing food particles, plaque and other unwanted elements in our mouths. This will help prevent cavities and reduce bad breath.

Nowadays, technology has given us many choices when it comes to toothbrushes. Ionic toothbrushes, for example, are a new innovation which helps in effectively reducing tartar and plaque stains. It’s a new option which many are choosing, especially in Japan where ionic toothbrushes have become very popular. New innovations and breakthroughs in science have been able to meet the needs of consumers who want to better maintain their oral health.

Sparkle Ionic Powerful Toothbrush  No. 1 Selling Product in Japan
Proven to Whiten Teeth

The Sparkle Powerful Ionic Toothbrush is certified by the Japan Dental Association. It has since become the industry leader in using this technology, which enables the brush to release negative ions which help in the gentle, yet efficient reduction of plaque. This ground breaking innovation allows for the removal of accumulated plaque without damaging gums. It also helps with the reduction of bad breath. Microfine bristles are gentle and appropriately shaped, enabling them to access small crevices between teeth and gums. This will, in turn, help promote white, healthy teeth, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease without damaging the surface of the teeth.

Because of its outstanding effectiveness, the ionic toothbrush has become the No. 1 selling toothbrush in Japan.

Why the negative ions work to remove stains?

Plaque and our teeth naturally have negative ions. The calcium in our saliva, however, has positive ions so our saliva works as a type of glue, sealing the plaque and our teeth coating together. However, when the ionic toothbrush releases negative ions and those negative ions clash with the positive ions in our saliva, the brush is then able to pull the plaque away from our teeth effectively.

Natural atmosphere in our mouths

The calcium in our saliva has positive ions >> Plaque has negative ions >> Our teeth have negative ions
The positive ions in our saliva encourage the negative ions in plaque and our teeth to stick together

Ionic Power Removes Plaque

The ionic toothbrush will release negative ions to shatter plaque and tartar stains from tooth coating, tooth crevices, and hard-to-reach places and helps reduce the accumulation of bacteria, leaving clean teeth, healthy gums, and fresh breath

Toothpaste you should be using
Aside from choosing the right toothbrush, choosing the right toothpaste is also important. Toothpaste should always contain fluoride, which helps reduce the risk of cavities significantly. Children, in particular, should use toothpastes rich in fluoride in order to help strengthen teeth right from the start.

Which areas of the mouth should we brush?

The best way to properly clean your teeth is to brush every tooth and crevice in between teeth. The bristles of the brush should be small enough to reach the deepest places in order to pull up unwanted particles. It’s important that the brush is able to reach your molars and wisdom teeth. This is an area that many of us overlook. The linings between your teeth and gums are also essential. Brushing your tongue is a must if you want to avoid bad breath.
The right way to brush your teeth
By brushing your teeth correctly, not only will you have white, clean, and strong teeth, you can also avoid getting bad breath.
    •    In brushing your upper teeth, set your toothbrush at a 45 degree angle and brush downwards, repeating this on all sides
    •    In brushing your lower teeth, set your toothbrush in the same way as you did while brushing your upper teeth, but this time the movement is brushing upwards
    •    In brushing your innermost teeth or molars, use sideway motions
Things you should NOT do when brushing
    •    You should not use toothbrushes which have overused, splayed bristles because it will be ineffective in cleaning your teeth
    •    You should not use too much force while brushing. Using too much force will cause corrosion in your dental crowns
    •    You should not brush down on your gums because it will cause your gums to recede. Use upwards motions for lower teeth and downward motions for your upper teeth
    •    Do not share toothbrushes with other people. It will put you at risk of contracting an oral disease or a disease which can be transmitted through saliva

How to properly store your toothbrush

Aside from choosing the right toothbrush and brushing in a correct fashion, properly storing your toothbrush is also important
    •    Adequately wash your toothbrush every time before storing
    •    In storing your toothbrush, make sure it is sitting upright, with the head of the brush pointing up
    •    Your storage area should be a place where air flows and can circulate in order for the bristles to dry
    •    You should not store your toothbrush in a closed compartment. This will encourage the growth of bacteria
    •    You should change your toothbrush every 3-4 months or when the bristles show signs of splaying

All of these factors are needed whether it’s the selection of an appropriate toothbrush, the correct way of brushing and the proper storage of the toothbrush after each use. In following these steps, our teeth will remain white, shiny clean and healthy. Don’t forget to take good care of your teeth. They’ll be with you for a very, very long time.
