Is tongue brushing necessary?
And can any normal toothbrushes be used?
A tongue has a lot of small taste buds which make us experience tastes of food while we are eating, leading to some food stains stuck on these taste buds until becoming a source of bacteria accumulation. Therefore, tongue cleaning is necessary because it will keep the taste buds working efficiently and be able to taste the food normally. In addition, one of the important causes of halitosis comes from accumulated stains on the tongue, so if we can clean it properly, halitosis will be reduced.
How to brush your tongue:
- Prepare a soft toothbrush. If the toothbrush is too hard, it can hurt your tongue while brushing.
- Or if you are convenient, you can buy a specific tongue cleaning tool such as a tongue brush / tongue scraper.
- Stand in front of a mirror and stick out your tongue as long as possible.
- Place the brush on your tongue horizontally and brush gently. Do not put the brush too deep because it will make you vomit.
- Brush your tongue from the inside out to the front until you feel your tongue clean. Then, rinse your mouth out with clean water.
